Murray State University and the students are a big part of what makes Murray, Murray. Students are encouraged to get out into the friendly and welcoming city as much as possible. Weekend Outings
Explore the Citywide Yard Sale
One of Murray’s favorite semi-annual traditions, the Citywide Yard Sale is the perfect weekend adventure for those seeking hidden gems and bargains alike. The perfect excuse to explore the city of Murray, and some surrounding regions, this Citywide Yard Sale is sure to make for an exciting weekend. Mark your calendars for the first weekend in May and the third weekend in September and get in on a beloved Murray tradition. Visit the Downtown Farmers Market
Murray’s Downtown Farmer’s Market is one of the largest in the region. From tasty treats and unique artisan finds to fresh produce and refreshing sips, the market is the perfect place to spend a Saturday morning. Open from 7 AM to noon every Saturday through November, a visit to the Downtown Farmer’s Market is the perfect way to get oriented in the community, and explore downtown.
Discover Murray’s Live Music Scene
Murray State University has deep seeded musical traditions, bringing the value of the arts into the city’s rich local music scene. From Bluegrass strings to Indie Rock riffs, Murray has multiple venues with frequent local music features. Wit’s End Records, located downtown offers after hours shows on weekends and during the week, and Tap 216 located just off campus features regional artists almost every weekend! Visit a Local Pumpkin Patch
As the leaves begin to fall, take a trip to one of the local pumpkin patches for all the fall vibes! Jay’s Pumpkin Patch in North Calloway is home to fun and funky gourds perfect for decor, and Grayson’s Southeast of Murray has adorable photo opps and a great mum selection. Experience the Christmas Cheer of Mainstreet Merriment
The first weekend of December is a hub of Christmas spirit in Downtown Murray with Mainstreet Merriment. For one weekend each year, Murray’s downtown turns into a Hallmark movie, complete with ice skating, hot cocoa and plenty of holiday cheer! The festivities kick off on Friday night with a tree lighting, followed by the opening of the Holiday Farmer’s Market. Tease Your Brain at Trivia Nights
Grab a bite to eat and tease your brain at one of the local trivia nights around town! Tap 216 hosts trivia every Tuesday, for teams or solo players! Take a Class at Murray Art Guild
Looking for a fun activity to de-stress? Murray Art Guild has it covered with classes for artisans of all levels both during the week and on weekends. MAG hosts exciting ways for community members to get creative like pottery date packages, paint and sips and themed craft nights! Get a Group Together for Local Game Nights
