The Arboretum

Located right off Main Street near Murray State University’s campus, this getaway spot features a variety of plants, flowers, shrubs, and trees that are local to the Western Kentucky region and maintained by the students of Murray State University. The Arboretum is perfect to escape to for an afternoon to walk your dog, take a jog down the track, or enjoy the peaceful waterfall surrounded by a pond and local greenery.

Renaissance Park

Whether you’re walking around Downtown Murray looking for a place to set up a picnic or enjoying a break at work, this popular spot downtown is a great place to rest your feet for a bit. This park is maintained by the City of Murray and located on 5th and Poplar St. It features multiple benches and a calming water fountain for you to enjoy on a busy day.

Clarks River

Off the beaten path, this hidden treasure is right outside the downtown area and ready for you to uncover. Located East on HWY 94 and past the railroad tracks, Clarks River invites the adventurous type to explore the banks and relax by the water. Don’t forget the bug spray!

A common journey for the Murray visitor, the Calloway County Quilt Trail boasts more than 60 quilt squares across barns in the county. This relaxing road adventure is a great way to spend a day and see the countryside Calloway County has to offer. No matter if you are looking to get a workout in or find that perfect hideout that is shady on a hot day, the hiking trails in Central Park are a favorite pastime for locals. The Murray-Calloway County Park offers a variety of areas to escape to and find that hidden spot you were looking for, and no better way to get there than by the trails. Be on the lookout for the flying disc golf players as the course is nearby! So, grab your sneakers and tackle this family friendly activity for all ages to enjoy.
