Summer Camp Season in Murray

Now that spring break is over, every kid has got one thing on their mind: summer. With just a few weeks left, we’ve compiled a list of summer camps in Murray to keep busy once school is out. From the visual arts, to sports training and economics; there’s a Murray summer camp for everyone.

Sports Camps

Rechelle Turner Elite Basketball Camp

Designed for girls in grade 8 through college sophomores, this camp focuses on training players to be collegiate level athletes. With strength training, scrimmages and individual guidance from MSU coaching staff, this camp is for athletes who are ready to be elite.

Rechelle Turner Mini Basketball Camp

This three day mini camp is open to girls and boys grades K-8 that are interested in improving their basketball skills. Through strength and agility training, scrimmages and drills, players are able to strengthen their skills.

Jody Wright Youth Football Camps

Aimed at players ages 6-12, this camp is designed to instruct the basic fundamentals of football. Including position specific drills and fundamental instruction, campers will get the chance to learn from Murray State University coaches and staff.

Jody Wright Specialized Football Camps

For players in grade 7 all the way through college seniors, Jody Wright and the Murray State Football coaching staff will be offering specialized training camps for various football positions. Including unique drills, targeted strength conditioning and game feedback, these camps are aimed at athletes wanting to play at a colligate level.

Matt Lodge Soccer Kids Camps

Join MSU head soccer coach Matt Lodge and his coaching staff for summer sessions that hone soccer technique and teach developmental skills in a a fun and positive environment! Open to boys and girls ages 5-13, this camp offers half-day and full-day options for both the June and July Session. This camp includes lunch for full day campers.

Matt Lodge Soccer Summer ID Camp

Aimed at girls ages 14-18 who are interested in pursing soccer in their college athletic career, MSU head soccer coach Matt Lodge and his coaching staff teach tactical exercises, advanced strength training and insights into the college recruitment process at this single day camp. This camp includes lunch for players.

Dan Skirka Baseball Camp

Open to players ages 6-14 this three day camp provides the opportunity to learn from MSU coaching staff and current players. This camp focuses on strengthening players in all aspects of the game, and rounding out technique and athleticism.

MSU Camps

Computer Science Summer Camp

The MSU Department of Computer Science and Information Systems will be hosting a three day summer camp for students in grades 6-12. This camp is designed to introduce key Computer Science concepts like data visualization, cyber security and computer architecture. With fun activities and qualified staff ready to meet students where they are, everyone from beginners to experts are welcome!

Racer Instrumental Music Camp

The Racer Instrumental Music Camp is open to students in grades 9-12 (including rising freshmen and recently graduated seniors). At this week-long camp, participants are able to participate in a concert band, chamber ensembles, master classes, musicianship seminars and private lessons. On the first day of camp, there will be chair placement auditions. Audition resources will be uploaded on the programs webpage.

This camp offers a residential and commuter option for participants. Both residential and commuter campers are welcome to three meals a day from Winslow Dining Hall.

Summer Art Workshop

Open to students in grades 9-12 (including rising freshmen and recently graduated seniors), this week long camp allows students to explore their creativity and learn about art theory from MSU staff. Students will create art with professional equipment which will be displayed in the Clara M. Eagle Art Gallery on MSU’s campus. This camp offers a residential and commuter option for participants. Both residential and commuter campers are welcome to three meals a day from Winslow Dining Hall.

Fun With Economics Camp

Open to students in grades 9-12 (including rising freshmen and recently graduated seniors), this single-day camp offers participants the chance to learn about economic principles, and how to apply them to their own lives.

Young Authors Camp

Open to children ages 8-12, this camp focuses on aspiring and educating aspiring authors. Offering the chance to practice writing poetry, fiction, personal narratives, skits and essays under the guidance of MSU staff, this camp is perfect for future creative writers!

Murray Art Guild Summer Workshops

Messy Fridays

Every Friday in June, kids ages 3-5 are able to learn process oriented creativity and make unique art projects, which of course involves getting a little messy!

Youth Art Workshops

Murray Art Guild offers a variety of summer art workshops, where participants will complete entire art projects and learn skills along the way. From crochet to polymer clay and jewelry making, the Murray Art Guild Summer Workshops are the perfect way for kids to spend their summer afternoons.

All Around Murray

Playhouse in the Park Lion King Kids Camp

Playhouse in the Park’s annual Summer Program is returning this year to put on the Lion King Kids. After auditions, this program brings together volunteers, performers and staff to put on an amazing show in just ten days! Followed by a weekend of performances, this program teaches teamwork, leadership and provides hands-on experiences in all parts of theater arts.

The Murray Bank Kids Club @ the Downtown Farmers Market

Open to children ages 5-12, The Murray Bank kids club takes place during the Downtown Farmers Market. Five Saturdays during the market season (May to October) kids club members get to participate in an activity during market hours, and will receive 25 dollars in market money to spend supporting the vendors. From crafts to scavenger hunts and even science lessons, The Murray Bank Kids Club teaches members about the market, and everything that goes into providing local, fresh foods.

Splat Summer Camp

Aimed at children ages five and older, join Splat for three days of learning, crafting and fun! Featuring daily activities and take home activities, this camp encourages participants to explore their creative side.
