In 2001,
Murray was selected as a Certified Retirement Community by the
Kentucky Tourism Development Cabinet and is one of only eight
communities with this special designation. Murray is noted as
one of the great places in the state and the nation to settle
down for retirement due to specific criteria. Low crime rate,
quality hospital care, low cost of living and tax rates, mild
climate, friendly atmosphere, availability of adult education
classes and close proximity to a major city, are just a few of
the benefits for those retiring in Murray.

With the
Murray-Calloway County Parks system, Land Between the Lakes
National Recreation Area, and the nearby lakes, our residents
are never far from recreational activities, and with access to
I-24, Murray is just a matter of hours from Nashville, St.
Louis and Louisville, and within a day’s drive from the
eastern, southern and mid-western United States.
“If you are seeking a
well-rounded community with
plenty of outdoor recreation, low
housing costs with
a four season climate, then
Murray may be just what you’re
looking for.”
