MUSIC & THEATRE
Housed in a 1907 train depot, Playhouse in the Park is Murray’s community theatre.  According to the Kentucky Arts Council, it is one of the oldest community theatres in the state. Playhouse in the Park offers year-round theatrical fare, including musicals, comedies, children’s theatre, dramas, and original works.

Murray State University’s Music Department and Department of Theatre and Dance produce concerts, plays and dance productions throughout the school year.

Murray Civic Music Association presents world-class performances at historic Lovett Auditorium.        

Cinema international host international films in the Curris Center throughout the year. Admission is free. 

FINE ART
The Clara M. Eagle Art Gallery is a dramatic and exciting multi-level exhibition space and serves as a unique source for experiencing fine art firsthand. Eagle Gallery is home to two National Juried Shows, the Magic Silver photography competition and the Kentucky National show, open to all media.  Also on the MSU Campus, the Curris Center Gallery features a wide variety of art shows.

   The Murray Art Guild offers classes, workshops, shows and sales for members and visiting artists.

Heritage

WRATHER MUSEUM

Wrather West Kentucky Museum is located in the first permanent building constructed on the Murray State campus and is on the National Register of Historic Places.  Wrather Museum, featuring both permanent and changing exhibits, highlights an understanding of the social, cultural and economic development of West Kentucky and the Jackson Purchase.    


FORT HEIMAN

Fort Heiman was one of a trilogy of forts that controlled the Cumberland and Tennessee rivers which had a significant impact on the Civil War.  Located in extreme southwest Calloway County, Fort Heiman is part of the Fort Donelson National Park.


POGUE LIBRARY

Forrest C. Pogue Special Collections Library was built in the Renaissance Revival style and features bronze doors on the east and west entrances.  On the National Register of Historic Places, Pogue Library contains materials relating to the history and culture of Western Kentucky, including those relating to the Tennessee Valley Authority, the Civil War and local history. Visitors also enjoy tracing their geneology in the library’s vast records.
